Friends' BBQ 2019 - (in spite of the clouds) another fantastic night of food and music at the zo

Despite the inclement weather, the Friends hosted our 14th annual BBQ in the Children’s Zoo, Battersea Park on Tuesday evening. We were entertained with wonderful jazz and Mexican music, which lent a festive atmosphere.

We were most fortunate as the rain held off and we were able to enjoy a fun filled evening which was very well attended by the local community. It was good to see familiar supporters of the Friends as well as many new faces. We have the support of so many excellent local people and organisations.

We would like to give particular thanks to the following for helping make the evening so special:

The Heap family, who generously allowed us to use the Zoo after hours, and the Zoo Staff, including Fiona, Darren and Sophia the Parrot.; Smart Hospitality our caterer; the helpers from our sponsors Douglas & Gordon, Battersea (led by Kesha Foss Smith); Thomas's Battersea Jazz Band, Los Soneros the Mexican band (sponsored by Hodder’s Law); Body Logic’s staff; Miss 'Dee-Faced', the face painter; Josh from Teddy Tennis; Jeremy the gorilla from Go Ape; and the Park’s Events team (led by Cara Gibson). We also thank all those many people and local businesses who baked cakes, donated beer and wonderful silent auction, raffle and tombola prizes.
